Charity

Social responsibility of business is one of the bases of OJSC Enel OGK-5 development.
In order to support its presence regions, the Company together with state and municipal authorities, community and charitable organizations takes part in projects aimed to support such spheres of life as public health, education, children’s sport, social assistance to elderly citizens and veterans.
The charity program for 2011 approved by the Board of Directors of OJSC Enel OGK-5 includes blocks of measures for providing support to educational establishments, children and youth groups, veteran organizations, ill and physically challenged persons, supporting measures aimed at creating favourable social environment. Total charity expenses of the Company in 2011 add up to 38 million roubles.
The Company employees take an active part in voluntary charity projects on fund raising and collection of articles for asylums, patients of children’s departments of hospitals, specialized charitable organizations needing assistance.
In schools and specialized educational establishments the Company engineers hold purpose-oriented lessons, share their experience, and teach how to protect environment and ecology of their home town.


“Open power plant” project

Annually all over the world Enel power plants open their doors for citizens of nearby cities and towns within the “Open power plant” project. It is a unique project of Enel allowing everyone eager to “fathom energy’s mystery” a possibility to see the electric power generation technology and see with own eyes where and how the energy is generated.
On this day visitors to the power plant may have a trip around the main process workshops and go along the same route that energy follows prior to getting to the grid.
Besides, all visitors to the power plant may enjoy an entertainment program organized by the Company directly within the power plant territory. Everyone may take part in cultural and sporting events. In 2011 Enel’s power plants in Russia were visited by approximately four thousand people.


PlayEnergy project

The Company’s power plants are glad to welcome pupils and students as well, so that they can see “energy plants” with their own eyes. Enel offers pupils of local schools to participate in the educational initiative “Play energy”. This project is organized for pupils of all ages in order to inspire them to study science, to introduce them to energy consumption culture. Within the scope of this initiative children may implement real projects, their original and bold ideas, and the wining class is awarded a trip to Rome.
